Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Consumer Rights
I had an oil changed done at an ATL Walmart. I drove from ATL to New Orleans and there was no oil in the car by the time I got to New Orleans. I had NO problems w/my car previously. I took it to Walmart in New Orleans, they told me something had gone wrong w/the service I received and duplicated the oil change. Since the first service, my car won't hold any oil we suspect there is a crack in the engine. The original Walmart says that they are not responsible and there's nothing they can do. What are my rights as a consumer to have my car repaired and be compensated for my TIME AND DAMAGES at their hands? PLEASE advise!!!

Re: Consumer Rights
First of all, you don't know what is causing the problem. Qualified mechanics do not "suspect" there is a crack in the engine - they can tell pretty quickly where the oil is coming from, and usually why. Get a qualified opinion on what the problem is, making sure to take pics, save faulty parts, etc. Then, IF it can be traced to Wal-Mart's defective service, you might be able to recoup some of the cost. If you take it to another unqualified mechanic and let them do more work on it, you will likely harm your chances.
