Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
contract
3 years ago I entered into a contract with golds gym. They
took 3 years from my signing of the the contract to the opening of the gym. I was told that the gym would be open within the year. 3 years later the gym opened and we recieved no notice. My finiances have changed and I no longer feel that it would be in my intrest to have a gym membership. I got a letter in the mail stating that I owed the gym a fee however I was told that my membership would not go into effect until I came in the first time. I was not alerted by the gym that they where open but was told by a neighbor. I called to opt out of the membership and was told no. What can I do.

Re: contract
You refer to a contract but say absolutely nothing about what it says. Without that, that you were told, "alerted to," or provided notice of mean little or nothing. Read the contract. We don't have a copy.
Re: contract
See a lawyer and bring the contract. It is possible depending on the contract that a well written letter may resolve this at a minimal fee.
