Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Contractor Took My Money
I had a carpet contractor come to the house to give me a free estimate. I paid a deposit for work to be performed. He kept delaying showing me the 70oz carpet we talked about until finally he showed me a piece of sub-grade carpet I did not want adn told me if I wanted the 70oz it would cost more than he quoted me. I told him he shouldn't have quoted me the price for 70oz if he couldn't do it for the price he said and asked for my deposit back. He refuses to give my deposit back. What can I do?

Sue him. Consult with a local attorney.
Re: Contractor Took My Money
The answer depends completely on the paperwork you did or did not sign. Obviously, before giving him money, you should have signed something and had him do the same, so consult that document for your answer.
