Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
dealership lost my $6000.00 check.
Auto dealership lost my $6000.00 downpayment check, check had all my info printed on it, name, social security #, address, routing #, account #. Big dealership! dealership has never called, salesman calls only from personal cell. He is recorded on answering machine saying he is coming to get another check. says he will pay out of his pocket to stop first check. What should I do? Am afraid of scams and idenity theft.

Re: dealership lost my $6000.00 check.
YOU should immediately (as in, right now, this morning) stop payment on the check, if you have not done so, and not wait on anyone else to do it or to pay for it first (though you'll want to request reimbursement later). You then need to check your accounts and credit report for the next few months. Doing further business with the dealer with this experience is at your own risk, though we do not know what your contracts provide about that.
