If you have a group of people who sit a the same table in a restaurant and all have seperate bills are you LEGALLY responsable for someone else's bill if they dine n dash?

I don't think you are legally liable. However, that doesn't mean the restaurant can't call the cops. Pay the bill and then go and knee-cap the scofflaw.

There can be a hundred different scenarios to your vague question, but the bottom line (and common sense) is that the remaining customers are likely far better off covering the bill and dealing with the friend later than trying to argue legalities with the restaurant or police.
