Dispute over bill
This past April I went on an organized antique shopping tour in England which included the hotel accomodations and overseas shipping of items back to the U.S. After the tour was over, I stayed at the hotel for 3 extra days at my own expense. The individual who sponsored the trip is claiming that I did not pay my hotel bill for those 3 days and that he had to pay this on my behalf. I have provided him with a copy of the receipt as well as a copy of my credit card statement showing that the bill was paid, however he claims that this is not adequate proof and has actually sent e-mails to other people on that trip specifically accusing me of fraud. He refuses to provide any documentation substantiating his claim and has never stated what amount he thinks I owe him. He is holding appx $10k in items I purchased while over there and although I've paid him to deliver these, he refuses to and says that he is now charging me storage fees on this. His business operates out of Florida and I'm in Georgia. What recourse do I have against this person and which court system has jurisdiction in a matter such as this?

Ordinarily, you must file an action in the jurisdiction of the offending party, which would be FL. However, under the "long-arm" statute and/or under federal law, you may be able to file suit in GA. You should consult with a local attorney.
