Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
fair debt collection act
i was past due on my cable bill . a representative of the company told a friend on mine on the phone the amount i was past due. my friend is not on my account and the presentative did not verify any info to give them this info to make sure it was me or not. because my friend does not know my social security number. isnt this against the law. what should i do.

The FDCPA applies to third-party collectors, not the original creditor. The amount of your cable bill is also not likely to be considered as highly confidential information. Pay your bill and move on.
