Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

garnishment or payments

I understand that after a credit company succesfully sues you and the judge signs the paper without you even getting a trial, that they can garnish your wages or whatever. My question is when do they get with you to make payments or who makes the decision of how much money they can take from your paycheck each month. I cannot believe that our courts would let them take your whole check , every check. Its not right to pay one company all your money and not pay your other debtors. Then the same situation just repeates itself over and over. So who decides how much they get every check, a judge or arbitrator, and when does this process start after judgement.?? thanks you guys do a great service.

Re: garnishment or payments

The percentage in a garnishment is set by law. In most cases, it is 25% of after tax wages.
