Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
gas tank repair
I gave my motorcycle gas tank to a local motorcycle shop to have a dent banged out and have the tank repainted. I was told I would have the tank back in 2 weeks and it would cost me $400. This was 6 weeks ago and I cannot get a hold of the shop owner by phone or at the shop. The few times he has been contacted he has had different excuses for not having the tank and not calling me back. I cannot get him at the shop because he is 'moving' his shop. His new shop is not where he has told me it was. I have not had any kind of contact with him for at least a week, either by phone or in person. I just want to get the tank back and want to know how to go about this, I have not given him any money yet, but have always intended on paying him in full. If you could just let me know how I can get the tank back legally, and what my rights are in this matter I would appreciate it.

Re: gas tank repair
You can sue him in small claims court, but that takes a lot of time. You might consider going to your sheriff's office and discuss taking out a Theft warrant. Many times, they will send a deputy out to try to resolve the issue.
