Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

I have a loan company harrassing me about redoing my loan to save interest rates, but I don't have a loan at all, and have never done business with this company. They leave phone messages about there is a problem with your account and you need to call soon, then they get into the spiel about saving interest rates. I called them and left them a message and asked them to remove me from their list and to stop calling me. I also left them a message about us being on the Do Not Call list. They still call @ once a week. The phone lists it as unknown name or number. I had to look up the number online to get the information about it being a loan company. Is this grounds to sue for harassment?

No you don't have grounds to sue. But you have reason for concern.

There are three possibilities:

(1) You could owe someone else and they bought the loan.

(2) Someone stole your identity, and you need to deal with identity theft.

(3) It could be a scam.

If it is number 3, call the FBI and report them to the FTC.

If it is 2, visit Clarkhoward.com or FTC.gov and do all the steps you must do when someone steals your name.

If it is number 1, figure out how to pay them.
