Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Rights of Rescending (72 hr period?)
My father purchased a vehicle from a dealer on Wednesday afternoon and upon returning today he was told the deal was final. Is this not protected by the consumer credit protection act of 1969? I read clause z but the paper work from what the dealer stated had been ''processed'' I even attempted to discuss this with them this afternoon. It is a Ford Ranger that is 15K and they have it figured at 9.75% and the total amount owed that they financed was 17,800 after a downpayment of 1500. My father has stopped payment on the down payment. Now we are curious if this is legally binding or will he be covered by buyers remorse.

Re: Rights of Rescending (72 hr period?)
There is no right to rescind a car purchase. He owns it. Additionally, he has risked going to jail for a felony bad check in writing a check that isn't honored; he certainly will owe civil bad check fees if nothing else.
