Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
A roofing company showed up in the community offering a quote to repair a roof. The paper work did not have the company phone #, address, web address or any other pertinent information. My husband signed to have the inspection performed. I reviewed the information when I arrived and immediately noticed red flags. I am displeased with the work done on previous homeowners. There are no customer feedback on the one website provided. The company admitted the website is not up to par and stated \" anyweb site is better than nothing\". We have not allowed them to start any construction on our home. They states \" if you do not allow us to start the work on your home, you will be required to pay us 30% of the total cost of the job. Our insurance company instructed us to contact an attorney immediately. Additionally one of the employees showed up with heavy smell of etoh on his breath. Even the roof templates were substandard. I had to request copies of previous jobs done in the area, this was not previously offered to us. Please advise.

Follow the advice you already received - see a lawyer to get you out the the jam you got in. We don't have the contract and you did not tell us what it says (unless the "they say.. ' is a small part of it). Don't do business with a "company" you can't check out and who just shows up at the door. That is an old ploy used by less-than-reputably people.
