Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

seminar purchase

I answered a supposed business opportunity and received a phone call with a high pressure sales person. He pushed for an immediate answer, which included me signing up for two training seminars for $5,000. Under pressure, I agreed and gave my credit card information. By email, I signed the receipt and returned it. But then, within two days, I contacted him and his office to rescind the agreement. They refuse to issue a refund. I have disputed it with my credit card company, but I am concerned that the seller will not cooperate. Does the Right of Rescission law applay, even if they claim a no-refund policy?

Re: seminar purchase

You leave out certain facts, such as what you mean by "answered" the opportunity, leading to the phone call. Those details, along with the terms of all agreements, emails, etc., are important. Beyond that, terms like "high pressure" will not help you. Adults are presumed to know and understand the agreements they make, whether or not they actually take the time they should to do so. You are generally responsible for the agreements you willingly enter into (and that includes "pressure.")

Re: seminar purchase

Likely there is no right to rescind but no one could answer without seeing the contract.
