Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Shopping cart damage
My wife's new van was recently damaged by a shopping cart at Home Depot. Estimate of repair is $300. Home Depot denies any liability. My contention is because of the parking lot slope (shopping carts will roll off by themselves when abandoned in the lot}, there is a hazzard to the customer's vehicles. My wife parked at the low point of the lot away from other cars to avoid damage, not realizing this was like the ''bulls-eye'' of the parking lot.

Re: Shopping cart damage
Ordinarily, the person who causes the damage is liable. Of course, you have no idea who that is. You might consider suing Home Depot in small claims court; you may draw a judge who is sympathetic. Be sure to take pictures which clearly show the layout of the parking lot, where the van was parked, etc.
