Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia

Is signed movie pass a contract

I was given two movie passes a little over a year ago signed my the manager of the local theater. They are on the companies offical passes. He told me since he did not put an expiration date on them I could use them any time. Shortly after, this manager was promoted to the PR person of the moview chain. My wife and I went to use the tickest yesterday and was told since the manager that signed the ticket is not at that theater any longer they would not honor the passes. My daughter used one of the passes in Jan. with no problems. Is the signed pass a contract with me and the movie company since it was signed by a representive of the company and there was no expiration dated listed. Thank you.

Re: Is signed movie pass a contract

Generally, assuming the original pass was a gift and not purchased, you probably would have a hard time legally, but do pursue this because the theatre is clearly run by someone who has no management skills. Draft a very polite letter to the CEO of the chain that owns the theatre and advise them that they refused to honor your pass, and tell them that the result is neither you nor anyone in your family will ever go to any of his theatres again absent an apology and proper response. Ask for several passes to compensate you for your time and gas expense. Send a cc: to the manager at the actual theatre. You can find the CEO's name and address online. Most well run companies at that point will apologize, probably send you a number of passes.

Note that if you BOUGHT the pass you would have a stronger legal claim in most cases.
