Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Can I trade in my mothers car without her permission?
I traded in my mother's car (that I had been paying the car note on) last night on a vehicle for myself. The dealership assured me she did not have to be there or sign any power of attorney papers. She is now saying that I had no right to use her car to trade in and she wants it back because the dealer couldn't legally do that. Is this true? Does that mean I have to take my car back to get hers? What can I do? I had to use her car as my ''trade in'' for the new vehicle purchase. Did the dealer do something illegal? Can she make them give her her car back? Help!

Re: Can I trade in my mothers car without her permission?
You committed a felony (theft of an uto). You have absolutely no right to sell someone else's car. It is your responsibility to get it back for your mother. You could be prosecuted even if you get it back, but it's less likely you'd be pursued if you undo it.
The dealer is not going to legally be able to sell your car.
