Unauthorized Credit Inquiry
What is my recourse when a company does a credit inquiry without any type of written or verbal authorization from me?

They often do not need express authorization from you. Several categories of companies or individuals can check your credit. Go to ftc.gov and review the materials on the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
