Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

If I have 2 different loans at the same credit union. 1 is a personal loan and the other is a auto loan. If I default on the personal loan, does that automatically default the auto loan as well even though the auto loan is not behind on payments?

You have the answer in your hands. We don't. If your paperwork has a cross-collaterilzation clause, yes. Otherwise no.

I cannot answer specifics but usually credit unions have blanket agreements with cross-collateralization clauses. That means if yours has one that if you default on the credit card and your car loan is up to date, the credit union can repossess your car if you default on the credit card. Or once you get your car paid off, they can hold the title. It has happened to my clients. I would not recommend defaulting but you need to review your agreements to see if there is a cross-collateralization clause.
