Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

I attended a college in 1987 and 23 years later, I received a letter from a credit collector stating that I owe the college $67.00 in fees, $97.00 interest, and $31.00 collector's fee. This is the first time that I have been contacted regarding this debt. I filed bankrupcy in 1989 or 1990 and placed the college as one of my debtors and assume they were paid everything that I owed them under bankrupcy. Now this. What are my rights? I don't know if I even owe them this. What is the law regarding Statue of Limitations for the state of Georgia? Am I still liable for this debt?

No one here knows what the fees are for (or whether it was a loan), what you put on your bankruptcy schedules, or what happened in the Bankruptcy case. You should have that information. We do not, and you did not tell us the relevant facts.

The answer depends on if it was a student loan (likely not dischargeable and collectable forever) or an actual debt to the college. The only person with enough information to know is your bankruptcy lawyer. If he's still around, call him.
