No one here knows the terms of your purchase, and you decided to tell us. "Hand it back in" also tell us little. However, if you are trying to ask whether you can purchase a used car and then try to get your money back later, the answer is almost always going to be no. Did you have a right to take it back in your contract? We don't know. Is there a problem, other than just changing your mind? We don't know that either.
Are you talking about a voluntary surrender of the vehicle? This is not a good idea. Why do you want to do this? Even if you surrender the vehicle, its still considered a repossession. Not only will they possibly charge you with repossession costs, but they will hold you liable for any deficiency owed on the car. If that happens, you will be out a car and still be liable for the purchase price.
If you are talking about taking a vehicle back, there is no 3-day right of cancellation. If you signed for it, its a done deal and the car is yours. They don't have to take it back and give you your money back unless there is something in the contract.
There are situations in which a car dealer spots a car to a buyer and the buyer applies for credit. When the application for credit is denied, the buyer then has to bring the car back or find a way to pay for it. However, you are not dealing with a car lender, but a buy here-pay here lot, so its unlikely that you were spotted the car.
Read your contract and see what it says about liability and default and return of the vehicle. If that does not answer the question, then re-post it but provide the necessary details so the attorneys here can answer your question.
If your question is as it appears to be, and you gave almost no details, unless your contract has a return period specified, and almost none do, you cannot just turn in a car. That is treated as a repossession and you can be sued for a deficiency when they resell the car. That means you have no car but still owe money.
