Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Calendar Call?

What is a calendar call? My husband received notice of a calendar call. It lists him as the defendant and goes on to say that he must appear in court or a default judgement may be placed against him. What do we do? We haven't been served with any papers. Do we go file an answer or what?

Re: Calendar Call?

The calendar call is just what it says - a demand to appear. The only good advice is to get a lawyer now to sort it out.

Re: Calendar Call?

Failure to appear at a calendar call likely would mean losing a court case. Before the case got that far it was served. Likely that was on your husband, but someone might have accepted for him and not told him, or it may have been served to him via publication in the paper.
