Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
Car Repossessions and collection agencies
I had a car and it was repossessed they have sold the car and put the repossession on me and my mothers credit report now they have charged it off to a collection angency and the collection agency is calling everyday talking about taking me and my mother to court putting a lien on her house and garnishing her wages b/c of this debt. They want my mother to put 10,000 dollars on her credit card to finish paying for the car. I thought once the company has there car back and has sold the car that was the end of the relationship between you and the car company . what I am trying to find out is if my mother does not put this money on her credit card what will utimatley happen, will we have to go to court or can we tell the car company to leave us alone about this car that i do not have anymore were not going to pay anything.

Re: Car Repossessions and collection agencies
When a car is repossessed, you still owe the deficiency (and there usually is one). That is the difference between what they sell the car for and what you owe, plus storage and other fees. You and she may be a candidate for bankruptcy or other options to address the debts and should consult with counsel.
