Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Closing an account

I was unhappy with thw service i was receiving with a company that I made a purchase from.I call stated that I wanted to pay the account out and know longer do business with them. There web site could not accomdate on line payment and I refused to pay by electronic check because there was a 10 fee. There customer service gave me a final payment amount and an address to mail the final payment and told me that would pay the account in full. I mail the amount necessary and wrote on the check in the memo section paid in full. They are now sending me a bill for more money. Is it true that once the check is cashed marked paid in full I am know longer liabel?
