collection agency breaking contract

If a collection agency breaks a contract due i still owe? the contract was set up over ten years ago by legal aid, $20 a month on a medical bill. i have not missed a payment. the collection this month states that i must increase the amount. is this legal, can they do this, does this wipe out the debt of $1800

No, the debt does not go away. They just will have to abide by the terms of any contract they made (whatever that may be). Keep in mind that most collectors get a debt after the debtor "broke the contract."
