Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Collection Calls

I took out a small loan to purchase a dining table & chairs. My payment is 54.00 per month for 12 months. My payment is due on the 24th and my contract states that I can not be assessed a late fee until after 10 days. On the second or third day after the 24th I get harrassing calls if the payment is not made on or before the 24th. I have asked that the finance company stop calling me at home, on my cell and at work (all at once) and mail me. They continue to call me back to back twice a day. Is this legal?

Re: Collection Calls

Your payment is late after the 24th. Certainly not every finance company does this, but yes, they can call you. Your option is to put it on a credit card, or pay it off.

Re: Collection Calls

Once your payment is late, and it is late after the 24th, they can call you. Bear in mind that the pattern of late payments can also severly damage your credit rating if they report it.
