colletion credit card agency

I had my last payment made in 2000 or 2001 but the company says that i had made one payment in 05 but i know that was not me and it was to another agency for a small amountIi said its past the legal statue but they said its not and want to sue me for it if I don't pay them in the next month what do I do?

The expiration of the statute of limitations does not stop them from filing a lawsuit and getting a valid judgment if you do not properly defend. Further, you mught find that the limitations period is much longer than you believe it is. One good way to handle it is to reach a written agreement whereby you honor your debts and obligations, or a part of it, and they agree to not report it negatively on your credit.
