Co-signed for auto that was repossed

If you co-sign for an automobile and the person you signed for does not make payments and the auto is repossed by the finance company and you have to pay payments and fees to get auto back, can you recover these expenses from that individual with a suite in small claims court or a judgement against them for payment.
