Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
I went to court today for what I thought was arbitration for a credit card debt. I found out in court that the arbitration had already happened in another state-which I didnt get any notice of-and that the court proceeding i was there for was "confirmation of an award" The lawyer representing the credit card company said to the judge that he has no paperwork other then the paperwork for the case we were currently in. So the Judge said he didnt know what to do and dismissed us so that he could later let us know.
The lawyer for the credit card company keeps calling me and wanting to settle. Should I set up a payment plan with them??? or should I wait till the court calls again??
He is saying that he called the courts today and they are giving him 3 days to get a payment plan in place...is he just trying to get me to sign something quick??
Also, I believe that the debt is past statute of limitations because I havent had any contact with the credit card since 2003. He says that I made payments on the card in 2006 which is not true at all.
What do I do??

Do what you should have done long ago and go see a lawyer and stop talking to the other party. You potentially have lost defenses you could have raised.
