debitors court

i am unemployed at the time and as being contacted by collection agencies. I am wondering if I have no money in which to pay these debts what can be done to me? and if I have a court date (debtors court) and do not appear....what then can happen to me?

Creditors can obtain judgments against you and even if there is no paycheck may be able to seize your car, real estate and bank accounts. If you ever go back to work they can use that judgment, years later even, in a garnishment.
