Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
Debt Collection
A little over a year and a half ago I became very ill. I am in stage 4 renal failure with cysts in all my major organs including my spine and hips. I am constantly in a great deal of pain. My doctors put me on a VERY strong narcotic analgesic that is much more powerful than Morphine. I guess i lost my mind and charged three of my credit cards up to almost 20 thousand dollars. One alone is about eight thousand. I did all this in a very confused and depressed state of mind, using the internet for a catalog. I am telling all of this as means of an explanation not as an excuse. Up till now I have avoided all attempts to contact me. I am on a very limited income (SSI) and can not hope to pay these debts on this amount since I have to pay a good bit each month for medical reasons. The rest goes to very meager living expenses. On July 8th I received a letter from an attorney located in Georgia who has given me 10 days to pay this or action will be taken. I intend to write him and tell him the debt is not mine in an attempt to slow down a law suit. The only thing I own that would get me out of this is the house I own. Is it to late to file bankruptcy? Is there any thing else I can do? Thank You!!

Re: Debt Collection
If you're in metro Atlanta or near to it I'd be glad to discuss bankruptcy (and any other options) with you. Start by getting one of our worksheets for free at www.glenashman.com and completing that. Then call me for an appointment.
Re: Debt Collection
See a local bankruptcy lawyer, before getting yourself in deeper trouble by false statements to the lawyer or others.
