Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

debt owed by Ex-boyfirend

My ex-boyfriend up & left after living with me 11 months with no notice. He walked out still oweing on his share of the bills and knowing he was leaving me financially strapped with all the increases on the utilities that he agreed to pay. I have a written monthly ledger that shows his responsibilities for each month, the amount of money he would give me and what it went toward. Since he has left I've already started to get late fees and notices which will eventually effect my credit. Do I have any legal recourse for him needing somewhere to live, agreeing to a take on the increases of all bills and then just bailing out with no notice? I know it's foolish to fall for the live in boyfriend game but he rightfully owes this money and I just want to be left in the same good credit condition I was in when he needed me so much. It's the no notice thing that's just not sitting well with me. If I had notice, I could have made adjustments and my good credit would not be in jeopardy.

You can certainly sue him for amounts/shares that he agreed to pay, but I would try my best to go ahead and pay the bills on time to avoid it affecting your credit.

You possibly cannot sue him. An old Georgia case, Rehak v Mathis, says persons who live together canot sue for the type things a divorcing couple could have sued for.

It is possible a small claims court might entertain a suit, but from what you poosted the Rehak case is likely a big barrier.
