Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

dentist office didn't call to verify insur payment..office took for granted insur would pay. had work done, payed my part. now the dentist office wants the rest. does the dentist office show neglict? am i responsible for the other part?

What obligation did the dentist have to call your insurer? Is it your insurance? If so, you are the one who is primarily responsible for understanding what is covered and what is not. It is a contract between you and the insurer - not the doctor.

Unfortunately, while most doctor and dentist offices put in for their patients' insurance, they are only doing the patient a favor. It is the patient's responsibility to make sure the insurance coverage is in place. If it's not, the bill is your responsibility.

You're liable completely. Although the dentist as a courtesy may call the insurer, it is your responsibility to verify insurance and coverage before you seek treatment.
