Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

double jeopardy

I had a car loan thru ugly Duckling Car Sales. The car fell apart after 6 months. I have refused to pay the balance to this day. Ugly Duckling became Drivetime. Drivetime sold my account to a co. called Associated receiveables. they have also reported the debt to Equifax. Can I have that removed from my bureau without paying the disputed debt?

Re: double jeopardy

You did not provide any basis for disputing, or not paying, the debt, so I am not sure why it would not be accurately reflected on your credit report. I am assuming you bought the car "as-is," but that would have been relevant information you did not provide.

Re: double jeopardy

There is no right to refuse to pay for a car that stops running, so the answer to your question is no. You still owe for the car.
