Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
Hi ~ My ex-husband owed money to me and didn't have it. Instead, he offered to give me a motorcycle (which he had originally purchased for me - but took back in the divorce) We agreed on the 'price' - an equal trade. However, he had financed the bike - in his name only - and 'promised' to continue making timely payments. I have the motorcycle - but no title. He did not make the payments. He has asked me to sell the bike back to him for the same amount he originally owed me. I will be happy to sell it back to him - I only want the $1700.00 he borrowed from me to begin with. He wants to take back the bike so he can avoid "jail time" and (according to the repo man -) "a felony conviction". I told him I will be glad to give him the motorcycle when I receive the full amount from him. He continues to pomise that the check is in the mail.
At this point, he has given the repo agent my name & phone number, as well as my parents' names and phone number. The repo person leaves threatening voicemails daily.
I do not want the bike - I only want the money the ex-husband owes me. What do I do????

See a lawyer to fix the mess you created in trying to mutually violate a judge's order. You can't keep the bike. You don't own it.
