False credit reporting

Is it legal for a lender to falsely report to a credit reporting agency that they quote ''cannot locate me or do not

know my whereabouts'' when I regularly recieve correspondence

from them?

I'd report that to www.ftc.gov . There is an online complaint form. And challenge it withe the credit bureau in writing.
