Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
I just found out that I can not renew my license in Georgia because my license was suspended in Arizona in 2012 due to a civil judgment. I was in an car accident in 2011 and evidently the insurance company filed a judgment on me for $3500. I have been in Georgia since 2012 so this is the first I've heard of this issue. Is there anyway I can fight this? If I don't renew my license in Georgia by 1/25/17 I have to turn my license over. Help please.

Pay the judgment or get the judgment opened. And why is this a collection/debt issue? You need an auto accident attorney in Arizona to find out why a civil judgment was entered against you and see whether it can be set aside or resolved. States now have drivers licenses compacts meaning that if a motor vehicle accident results in a judgment against you and you do not pay, then your state of residence will not renew your license because a block is placed on your license.
