Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Former friend threating to sue

6 years ago a church member provided me safe haven from an abusive husband, I was also recovering from serious car accident. This person at the time told me they were helping with money provided to them by God to help others. After I met my current husband, she kicked me out saying it was too soon to date and if I didn't follow her rules ( I was 30 ) I had to go. Soon after I married she started demanding payment on the money she used to help me with. (that was in 2000). I had always stated that I felt I should try my best to replenish the money to ''God's storehouse'', I felt I SHOULD, and I insisted on making small paymetns when I was able. She doesn't cash 1/2 the checks I send. Today I rec'd a letter in the mail threating criminal action and that she as taking me to court if I didn't pay in full (She also won't tell me how much she thinks I owe) she was going to take me to court. What is the statue of limitations on her trying to collect on this money I do not even agree I owe! I have contacted a lawyer and he said he will represent me if I get sued, but not to communicate with here or send any more money.
