Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Frozen Bank Account

In 2005 I bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty w/o/my husband, I know stupid. When he realized how much the payments were, 410, he immediatly made me voluntarily surrender the vehicle. Now almost 4 years later I have been served with a judgement of almost 12,000 dollars. They have also frozen our bank accout. I do not work because I take care of the children so they cannot garnish my wages. What steps do I need to take to get this freeze off of our account? I need to buy Christmas presents: ( I have called the Att. who handled the case, but her sec. keeps telling me she's in meeting and she will get back to me when ever she can, but that is not good enough for me I have had NO money for almost a week and we need food and diapers. Any advice would help, thanks in advance!

Re: Frozen Bank Account

Assuming they did everything correctly, they likely will not volunatrily give you the money back (for gifts or anything else). They have a judgment, and that is how they collect. They have every reason to NOT release the funds they have waited several years to get.

Re: Frozen Bank Account

You already lost a case and owe $12,000. This, there is no way to remove a freeze on your account except for (1) paying it off OR (2) filing bankruptcy. My office handles those if you are in metro Atlanta. A bankruptcy may lift the freeze depending on info not in your post.
