Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

In GA, what can they do to me if I default?

I live in GA and am considering defaulting on $50,000 worth of credit card debt. I make too much money to be able to file bankruptcy and am running out of option. Can they garnish my wages? Put me in jail?

Why are assuming you cannot file bankruptcy? Depending on the means test calculation, you may be able to do Chapter 7, and otherwise might be able to do a 13. We'd have to see the numbers to know.

If you don't pay and do nothing, expect to get sued at some point. The resulting judgment would allow the lenders to grab your bank account and paychecks by garnishment, and possible seize a car, house and certain other property.

They can sue, get a judgment, garnish wages and bank accounts for years to come, ruin your credit, which in turn may affect your current or future emplyment (among other things). There is no income limit Chapter 13.
