Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

I have a garnishment signed by a judge. it is for a personal loan. Problem is that I have run into road blocks and having it served to the employer. Im in GA and after 3 attempts, I found out the company is based out of NJ. I spoke to someone there and they will not call me back with an address to where I can have this served. They said the court does it, but here, the court does not do it for a personal loan case. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. TY

Judges don't sign garnishments.

If a company is doing business in Georgia and you have done things correctly (and it takes one 10 second web visit) you'd have the registered agent for the company and that is whom you MUST serve. If they do business in Georgia that has to be in Georgia and is on the Sec. of State website.

If this is an out of state company with no Georgia presence you also are messing up. In those cases you must first domesticate the Georgia judgment in NJ and then follow their garnishment law.

If you are trying to serve it anywhere else you are not complying with the law. If the debt is large, it would be smart to hire a collection attorney and not act yourself.
