how can i stop a garnishment on an old debt

The best way - pay the judgment. Otherwise, the drastic step of bankruptcy is the only other way to stop most garnishments of wages (not incl. quitting the job, which would be silly). This should have been addressed before losing a lawsuit.

Two things can stop a garnishment:

(1) Pay off the debt

(2) Filing bankruptcy
