Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Garnishment of wages

Can my old employer be held accountable for my garnishment because he didn't file the paperwork in time? I have not worked for over 6 months.

The credit card company that filed a garnishment (and won) against me is telling my employer that he will have to pay my garnishment amount because he did not responed to the paperwork sent to him about my garnishment. I was not working for him at the time and I still do not work.

Re: Garnishment of wages

Quite possibly, yes. A garnishment is a court order and the employer has a duty to respond on time.

When employers ignore a garnishment lawyer they must pay certain amounts as a penalty for breaking the law. The employer needs to do what he should have done earlier and see his lawyer.
