It depends. You do not give out a whole lot of information here. Most credit cards have 16-digit numbers but American Express has 15-digits. Its not the number of digits that is important. Did you deliberately use a stolen or fake card to buy something? If so, you had better quit posting about it because yes, you can be prosecuted. Will you go to jail? That depends as well.

Your age, prior criminal history (if any), circumstances surrounding the card use, and level of seriousness of the offense would all be taken into consideration. If this is a first offense, you are young and the crime graded as a misdemeanor, then i would think a smart criminal lawyer can help you avoid jail and get you perhaps a first offender/deferred adjudication if you make full restitution.

Even if no criminal charges have yet been filed, you might want to talk this over with a criminal law attorney and pay for a consult to ascertain the best way to handle this. However, I don't think just doing nothing and praying that nothing bad will happen would be the best option. But it will depend on how the credit card was used. Once a merchant finds out the card is fake if it can be traced back to you, then liability may be more likely depending on the merchant (whether a mom-and-pop type place or a big corporate merchant). There is also the morality issue. Using a fake credit card to buy something because you wanted it and is the same as stealing from the merchant. I am not here to pass judgment - but that is not the way to get by in this world and I woulod hope that you will have learned your lesson and stop doing this. It isn't right.
