jail for late rent

my landlord usually comes by my townhouse to pick up the rent $. I've told her if I'm not there the money is on the end table. We've done this for the last 3 months. I lost my cell phone just before the beginning of the month so i put the money order on the end table. On the 7 th of the month she has her lawyer call and threaten to put out a warrant? Is this legal, and what recourse do i have?

If a LAWYER called and said that, contact the state bar. He can be disbarred by that so make a complaint.

You can of course be evicted unless you pay rent but you can't be jailed for it. Unless you can prove the rent was paid you need to pay it.
