Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Judgement

I received a summons for a judgement, and would like to know how to stop it. How do I dispute it from getting on my credit. It was dated March 20, 1009. It was delivered April 17, 2009. Does that mean it is too late to go to court and it instantly appears on my credit? Would Bankruptcy be an option? How much will that cost me?

Re: Judgement

Since you posted no facts whatsoever about the debt, you are asking for guesses. If you have not paid a debt, a collection suit is to be expected, as is a negative entry on your credit report. The best way to stop the suit and avoid more harm to your credit report is simple - make arrangements to pay the debt. Bankruptcy is rarely a great option unless you have more problems than a single credit card debt, but if it is, many more facts are necessary. As for what it costs, you are asking a message board - that is a question for the lawyer handling the case. Like many things, you often get what you pay for.

Re: Judgement

A bankruptcy stops almost any lawsuit, and since you have 30 days to answer most suits, you still would have time if the dates you posted are correct. If you're in metro Atlanta, go to www.glenashman.com, get a free worksheet, and I'll be glad to review it to see if we could assist you with a bankruptcy (and to discuss all your options).
