Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Judgment Lien against Spouse's Property

I have received a ''judgment'' against a person. Can I put a lien on real and personal property in his spouse's name? His truck is registered in Union County, GA in her name but he is in Sevier County, TN. If I try to get a levy on the vehicle does it need to be filed in both Counties, or just where it will be seized?

Re: Judgment Lien against Spouse's Property

No, getting a judgment against a party does not give you the right to attempt to put a lien on someone else's property. Trying it could get you in trouble.

If you have a judgment against one person, you have no right to pursue someone else's property. It doesn't matter that it is a spouse.
