Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Law office billing me for credit card

I got a letter from a law office regarding an old credit card acct and they said '' You have not disputed the debt within 30day period afer our letter to you, so we ae assuming that the debt is valid, and demanding a immediate payment in full'' They are collecing for $340, its not a huge amount but if i pay the $340 to this law firm would the bad credit be erased from my credit report? Or what can i do to make the best of it, i don't mind paying the money but how can i make them or whoever can to get it off my record. What is the right thing to do now? ( this is when i was living in Atlanta, now i am in California)

The "right thing" clearly is to pay a valid debt, regardless of what a creditor report shows. You can try to get them to change the credit report, but they might not if it is accurate. It will show that the debt has been paid, albeit late, but that is still better than showing it as unpaid.

Check the GA statute of limitation. In CA it's 4 years.
