Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Law Office Threats to File Judgement

Hello,

There is a law firm that sent a summons to answer a complaint from a partner assignee of a credit card company.

I do not know how to respond. This account was charged off and the assignee has added multiple charges to the previous balance. It has been so long since any activity occured. I do not know the date of last activity. Please advise on how to respond.

Thank you.

Re: Law Office Threats to File Judgement

You have been sued, so the only reasonable course of action is to get a lawyer to handle it. "Charged off" is an accounting term - it does not mean your obligation went away. Perhaps the lawyer handling the case for the creditor will allow you to pay off your debt and honor your obligations with a written payment plan.
