Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Lien Credit Card Dispute

I hired a contractor to build a walkway. I paid for it via my credit card. My neighbors hired the same contractor to work on a drainage issue which exentended into my yard. They paid for the drainage work. The walkway is unsatisfactory and looks unprofessional. When it rains the pipes pop out of the ground. The land was never graded and is a mess. The end of the pipes are laying uncovered in my yard. I disputed the credit card charge and won. The contractor is threatening a lien on my home. To repair all of his poor workman ship will cost me 3x as much as the orginial contract for walk way. What are my rights? Since I won the dispute can he place the lien? Will I be notified and able to fight the lien? What are my chances of winning.

Re: Lien Credit Card Dispute

It sounds like you have many issues and questions would be hard to address without knowing more facts. The contractor could not place a lien on your house without first being awarded a judgment, and to do that, he would have to file suit.
