Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
My mother had used several credit cards over the years belonging to her parents. She had borrowed other small amounts of money as well. My grandfather informed that he rolled the money she owed into their second mortgage and she would make payments. Other family members were included in the mortgage and all are making payments as well. This was several years ago, and we recently asked him to produce some documents showing her total still owed and what made up that total. He has refused to produce such documents but is still expecting her timely payments. Does he or does he not have to show documentation of her debt with them or have documents to back up what he says is her total debt? We just need to know the basic law before we move forward. Thank you.

Your family has personal issues, not legal issues. Deal with it that way and don't try to turn it in to a legal issue. Beyond that, why doesn't your mother know how much she owed and how much she has paid?
This is your mother's problem, not yours. You proceed by NOT doing anything, She proceeds by conferring with a lawyer.
